The Powertrain Testing Labs situated at Global Automotive Research Centre (GARC), International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT), and National Automotive Test Tracks (NATRAX) are equipped with cutting-edge technologies to test engines, transmissions, electric powertrains, hybrid systems, and emission control technologies. These labs support homologation, R&D, and performance validation for both conventional and electric vehicles (EVs).
The Global Automotive Research Centre (GARC) features state-of-the-art powertrain and emission testing facilities for IC engines, electric drivetrains, and hybrid vehicles.

Capabilities:

Engine Testing for Performance & Durability:

• Evaluates power, torque, and fuel efficiency under various load conditions.
• Supports BS-VI and future emission norms testing.

Electric & Hybrid Powertrain Testing:

• Tests motors, inverters, and battery performance for EVs and hybrid vehicles.
• Assesses thermal management, efficiency, and reliability.

Transmission Testing:

• Tests manual, automatic, and CVT transmissions under real-world load conditions.
• Evaluates shift quality, efficiency, and durability.

Emission Testing & Certification:

• BS-VI, EURO 6, and RDE (Real Driving Emission) compliant.
• Equipped with Portable Emission Measurement Systems (PEMS).

Fuel Compatibility Testing:

• Tests engines for alternative fuels like CNG, LPG, ethanol, and hydrogen.

Powertrain Lab – ICAT

The International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT) provides comprehensive powertrain testing solutions for conventional and electric vehicles. It is one of India’s most advanced facilities for engine and transmission testing.

Engine Performance & Durability Testing:

• Engine dynamometers to assess power, torque, and fuel consumption.

Electric & Hybrid Vecile Testing:

• Tests battery efficiency, motor performance, and power electronics.

• Supports Chassis Dyno & Portable Emission Measurement Systems (PEMS) for RDE testing.

Powertrain Testing Lab – NATRAX

The National Automotive Test Tracks (NATRAX) features advanced powertrain and drivetrain testing facilities for performance validation under real-world conditions.
