Noise, Vibration & Harshness (NVH) Lab

Noise, Vibration & Harshness (NVH) Lab

The Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) Lab at the International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT), Manesar, is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to evaluating and optimizing vehicle comfort, acoustic performance, and structural refinement. This lab supports OEMs, component manufacturers, and R&D teams in enhancing driving experience, durability, and regulatory compliance.

Capabilities:

Full-Vehicle NVH Testing

  • Evaluates cabin noise, road noise, powertrain noise, and wind noise under different driving conditions.
  • Helps manufacturers identify and minimize noise sources for improved passenger comfort.

Anechoic & Semi-Anechoic Chambers

  • Provides precision noise testing by eliminating sound reflections for accurate acoustic measurements.
  • Essential for sound quality assessment and noise source identification.

Structural & Modal Analysis

  • Evaluates chassis, suspension, and body resonance to improve vehicle stiffness and durability.
  • Helps in reducing unwanted vibrations and improving ride quality.

Pass-by Noise Testing

  • Tests external vehicle noise emissions as per AIS-138, UNECE R51, and ISO 362 regulations.
  • Ensures compliance with Indian and global noise standards

Sound Quality & Psychoacoustic Testing

  • Measures human perception of sound for premium vehicle feel and comfort enhancement.
  • Used in luxury and high-performance vehicle development.

Component-Level NVH Testing

  • Analyzes noise and vibration levels of individual components like exhausts, motors, HVAC systems, and trims.

Advanced Data Acquisition & Analysis

  • Uses high-precision sensors, microphones, accelerometers, and real-time data processing tools for in-depth NVH analysis.
