Fatigue Testing Lab

Fatigue Testing Lab

The Fatigue Testing Lab at the Global Automotive Research Centre (GARC), Oragadam, Tamil Nadu, is a state-of-the-art facility designed to evaluate the durability, strength, and reliability of automotive components and structures. The lab conducts fatigue life assessments under real-world loading conditions, ensuring components meet safety, performance, and regulatory standards.

Capabilities:

Structural Fatigue Testing

  • Simulates real-world road loads, vibrations, and cyclic stress to assess structural durability.
  • Used for chassis, suspension components, and vehicle frames.

Component-Level Fatigue Testing

  • Evaluates welded joints, fasteners, axles, and body panels for fatigue resistance.
  • Helps in material selection and design improvements.

High-Cycle & Low-Cycle Fatigue Testing

  • High-cycle testing for long-term durability under small stress cycles.
  • Low-cycle testing for heavy stress conditions and failure analysis.

Fatigue Crack Growth & Fracture Mechanics

  • Monitors crack initiation and propagation to predict component lifespan.
  • Supports R&D in advanced materials and lightweight structures.

Full-Vehicle Durability Simulation

  • Simulates road-induced fatigue loads for body-in-white (BIW) and complete vehicle structures.
  • Ensures enhanced vehicle longevity and crashworthiness.

Corrosion Fatigue & Environmental Testing

  • Tests fatigue performance under extreme temperature, humidity, and chemical exposure.
  • Helps assess material behavior in harsh conditions.

Advanced Data Acquisition & Analysis

  • Uses strain gauges, load cells, and real-time monitoring systems for precise fatigue assessment.
