ICAT, as a key institution under NAB’s framework, play s a critical role in advancing India’s automotive technology landscape. It provides comprehensive vehicle and component testing services, including:
Testing and Validation: Equipped with advanced laboratories such as NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness), passive safety, EMC (electromagnetic compatibility), and tire testing.
Certification and Homologation: Authorized to conduct tests and approvals of vehicles and their components under the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR) – Rule No. 126.
Design and Engineering: Provides services in computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided engineering (CAE), supporting the industry in powertrain design and testing, fatigue testing etc.
Braking Test Zone: Allows manufacturers to assess braking efficiency, stopping distances, and ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) performance.
Research and Development: Engages in R&D activities to foster innovation and development of advanced automotive technologies, aligning with global standards and trends.
