Both NATRAX (National Automotive Test Tracks) and GARC (Global Automotive Research Centre) house state-of-the-art test tracks designed for vehicle performance evaluation, durability testing, safety assessments, and homologation. These tracks enable comprehensive testing under controlled and real-world conditions to meet international automotive standards.

NATRAX Test Tracks (Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh)

NATRAX is Asia’s largest proving ground with 14 specialized test tracks.

1. High-Speed Track (HST)

Purpose:Evaluates top speed, stability, acceleration, and aerodynamics.

Specifications:

  • 11.3 km long, 4-lane with speeds up to 250 km/h at curves.
  • Banked curves allow steady high-speed runs.
2. Dynamic Platform

Purpose:Tests vehicle handling, maneuverability, and stability control.

Specifications:

  • 300m circular area for skid pad and drift tests.
3. Braking Test Track

Purpose:Evaluates braking performance, ABS, and emergency stops.

Specifications:

  • 1 km track with wet, dry, and low-friction surfaces.
4. Gradient Track

Purpose:Assesses climbing ability and powertrain performance.

Specifications:

  • Gradients of 8%, 12%, 16%, and 20%.
5. Fatigue & Durability Track

Purpose:Simulates real-world wear and tear on vehicles.

Specifications:

  • 7.2 km rough road track with cobblestones, potholes, and bumps.
6. Handling Track

Purpose: Evaluates cornering, stability, and roll-over risks.

Specifications:

  • 2 km long with tight and sweeping curves.
7. Wet Skid Pad

Purpose:Tests traction control, hydroplaning, and wet-weather stability.

Specifications:

  • Water-sprayed circular track for controlled wet conditions.
8. Pass-by Noise Track

Purpose:Measures vehicle noise emissions per global standards.

Specifications:

  • ISO-certified acoustics track.
9. Off-Road Track

Purpose:Tests SUVs, trucks, and 4×4 capabilities.

Specifications:

  • Mud, sand, gravel, and rocky terrain sections.
10. Comfort Track

Purpose:Evaluates ride comfort and suspension.

Specifications:

  • Simulated real-world roads with undulations.
11. NVH Track

Purpose:Assesses cabin noise, vibration, and harshness.

Specifications:

  • Smooth asphalt with zero external noise interference.
12. Gradient & Cross-Country Track

Purpose:Tests uneven terrain handling.

  • Multiple inclines and rough paths.

GARC features diverse test tracks for performance evaluation and homologation.

1. High-Speed Test Track

Purpose: Evaluates speed, acceleration, and fuel efficiency.

Specifications:

  • 2 km straight section with banked turns.
2. Gradient & Climbing Track

Purpose: Tests climbing and hill-start capabilities.

Specifications:

  • Up to 20% gradient slopes.
3. Braking & Skid Resistance Track

Purpose: Tests braking efficiency, ABS, and traction control.

Specifications:

  • Dry, wet, and ice-mimicking surfaces.
4. Handling Track

Purpose: Evaluates cornering performance and lateral stability.

Specifications:

  • Curves, chicanes, and slalom sections.
5. Durability Track

Purpose: Simulates rough road conditions.

Specifications:

  • Potholes, cobblestones, and speed breakers.
